Peeking at the the Other Side of Fear
Today was the first time I started teaching a 4 week hand building class. Was a nervous? YES! Was I scared? YES! And did I survive? YES! I met some incredible people and enjoyed learning about their varied backgrounds and reasons for wanting to take a pottery class. Many were excited to discover what they could magically create with a lump of clay. After class, I was fortunate to talk with two students and shared that I was extremely nervous teaching. They were VERY surprised, had not noticed and were impressed with my teaching style. It is interesting how we sometimes see ourselves in a funhouse mirror when really the reflection back from others is more positive than we thought. It is moments like this that make me feel alive. I'm not peeking at fear anymore, I'm going to hug it!
